Mohamadu Aswer, Training Consultant of Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF), has professional career experience as a Video & Audio editor and a Cameraman since 2011.
Aswer has completed his Diplomas on Filming and Production in 2013 and Video Journalism in 2015.He received his training on ‘MoJo (Mobile Journalism) Training of Trainers’ in November 2018, under the Media Empowerment for a Democratic Sri Lanka (MEND) Program conducted by David Hayward from BBC UK. Since this training Aswer has been performing as a MoJo storytelling and video production Consultant and Local Trainer for International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX).
Aswer has to his credit more than 100 documentaries and 150 video stories. Being an Audio editor, he has edited more than 50 radio dramas for social advocacy, focusing on the role of the radio in promoting gender equality, justice, pluralism, human rights and democracy. His, initiatives have reached thousands of citizens in the rural communities of Sri Lanka. Naalai Namathe’ (2015/16) radio series is an award winning production edited by Aswer (State Radio Awards 2017). Aswer has been working for various local and international organizations and production houses, from the positions of Documentary Film Maker, Social Media Consultant, and Cameraman. He was the first Place Award winner at the ‘Pic Your Values’ Photography Competition 2018, organized by The Asia Foundation and had a Special Jury Award at the Big Picture photography competition 2017, organized by US embassy and SDJF.
