As an organization committed to promote development communication in Sri Lanka, SDJF strongly believes in the power of community media in uplifting the living conditions of all communities, notably that of the marginalized and ensuring inclusive development across the country. As an expert in using a variety of community and new media tools such as community radio, folk drama, street drama, forum theatre and digital storytelling, SDJF combines the above goal with these media tools for a better and sustainable outcome than an output. Addressing the voice poverty across regions, inviting civil society to participate in the process of democracy and enhancing the community media sector are some of the main activities carried by the SDJF under this programme area. Promoting freedom of expression, communicational rights of civil society, community media policy development and promoting media and information literacy are also given equal priority in the implementation of this programmatic focus.
