Call for Production Houses

 

The InSPIRE Project: The InSPIRE Project is a joint venture by the Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF) and HELVETAS with the overall objective of contributing to the enhancement of democracy and human rights in Sri Lanka.

The project is funded by the European Union and seeks to empower a community of aspiring future media  professionals and journalists through the development and implementation of specialised modules to improve the skills and knowledge of  students in four state universities such as, the University of Peradeniya, the University of Jaffna, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the South-Eastern University. The outcome of the project will enable the production of creative media products, thereby  encouraging gender sensitive and socially responsible use of new media such as social media and mobile  journalism.

About SDJF: The Sri Lanka Development Journalists Forum is a well-established national level non-profit and non-governmental organization having extensive experience in promoting the role of media in democratization and transformation since its inception in 2009. SDJF works closely with international media development agencies, local media organisations, universities, civil society organisations in addition to youth and women development movements engaged in promoting democracy and human rights in Sri Lanka.

SDJF is looking for video production houses to develop and produce a series of videos on the projects’ thematic topics. We welcome quotations from the most experienced production companies based in Colombo who satisfy the following requirements:

 

  1. Company should have a legal business registration
  2. Production houses are expected to have a well established studio with facilities such as minimum two HD cameras with necessary triodes, professional lighting, filming set or green mat studio setup, etc.
  3. Production company should have a complete in house pre- and post-production facilities and editing suits
  4. Adequate space for editorial meetings
  5. Access to qualified editors, sound engineers, producers, lighting technicians.
  6. Willingness to accommodate last minute changes in editing

 

Brief Job Description

  1. Produce a series of 17, 2D animated videos on the thematic topics of Digital Citizenship (4), Freedom of Expression (5), Right to Information (4) and Gender in New Media (4) supplementary to the physical modules developed on the above topics.
  2. Each video should be 3-5 minutes in duration

 

  1. Production will be done in Sinhala and Tamil with subtitle in English
  2. Final production (episode) should be provided to SDJF in any compatible format ready to disseminate
  3. At the end of production all the remaining footages must be returned to SDJF

 

Selection Criteria

  1. An independent bidding committee of SDJF will evaluate the bids/equations
  2. The committee will choose a service provider based on (a) Price (the service provider that submits lowest quotation will be given priority) (b) ability to meet all SDJF requirements, (c) availability of the service facility under one roof
