About usSri Lanka Development Journalist Forum (SDJF) was inaugurated in Sri Lanka in 2009 with a view of the moral responsibility and the obligation of media in forming a free and forward marching society. It is the national platform and the representative body for the journalists who believe that the positive social changes and community empowerment can be achieved through the strategies use of media; both community based and mainstream. Sri Lanka Development Journalist Forum deeply concentrates on the gap between media and the community and facilitates the quality of the media outputs. We encourage a media culture in which media could lead and facilitate the community towards development and empowerment. Community media, citizen journalism, training, research, monitoring & evaluation, and broadcasting for development are the core programme components, which SDJF has structured to attain its goals. SDJF sets off its journey focusing on all these aspects. We will thrive in accommodating all stakeholders attached to these sectors. Self-motivated young generation is emerging day by day with the growth of ICT infrastructure facilities. Internet based media initiatives are cropping up in line with the frequency based radio channels. At this juncture, our forum will pay special interest to conduct trainings, awareness programs, discussions with stakeholders, conferences, seminars, workshops and research in a bid to revitalize and strengthen the community media culture. Hence, it provides a collective strength to boost up a strong community media culture in Sri Lanka. This also secures a place for scrutinizing on community media in Sri Lankan media studies. |
